Exemplary and demonstrative implementation of a landing stage from river Odra into the fortress monument Kostrzyn as infrastructure to link Central European fortress heritage via waterways and water tourism under the conditions of monument and nature protection

The pilot investment concerns the exemplary construction of a landing–stage at the waterfront of the Odra river with adjacent land development in the fortress monument. The landing stage will be situated directly in the area of fortress Kostrzyn. It connects the water front with the tourist attractions in the big fortress system. The pilot investment should stimulate all other fortresses at waterfronts of European rivers, lakes and coasts, link the fortified heritage with the help of waterways and connect the CE-fortresses with the growing European water tourism.

The preparation and decision process will start with the analysis of a waterline local situation as well as the nature and soil structure- all to define the exact place for the landing stage. The technical conception should consider a nature and monument protection expertise to ensure the feasibility and all permissions required.

The pilot investment concerns the creation of important infrastructure for a direct access to the European waterways and a growing water tourism for the fortress heritage. It should in the same time present itself as an important trans-national interconnection of cities and regions via water ways infrastructure. The pilot project should demonstrate all conditions and practical solutions for implementing of a landing stage at the water front of fortress Kostrzyn under consideration of the special natural and monument protection regulations that are typical of fortress monuments.

It is also important to analyse and to consider the special demands of water tourists and the adequate services, as well as the implementation of this new visitor gate at the waterfront into the fortress guiding and information system. While being conducted the project should clear the optimal localisation of the stage, its dimension, construction, necessary adjacent land development, pathway reconstruction, necessary technical infrastructure for communication, lighting and observation of the water entrance.

The technical construction and the infrastructural implementation require a nature intervention expertise concerning the regulations of the nature protection, like in case of nature parks of the Odra and Wartha rivers as well as the special flora and fauna habitat restrictions. At the same time they need a harmonisation expertise on the fortress monument architecture and its restrictions. After fulfilling all necessary requirements the technical construction and the infrastructural implementation should result in building of the landing stage .

- Purchase of the landing – stage, work execution concerns the installation of the special landing –stage, construction–as well as land development, creating of the path leading from Bastion Brandenburgia to the harbour, information boards preparation.
